Special needs students often struggle to master key concepts needed to unlock their learning potential. A levelized fluency station, hands-on manipulatives like base ten number blocks, magnetic numbers and letters, and stamps reinforce emergent skills. Having and holding visual models that correlate to key concepts makes it easier for young learners and those with special needs to grasp idea and relate them to the skills being taught. All students deserve to have a comfy spot to call home base, and nothing is more essential to the learning process than being able to come together in small group for interactive lessons at the white board or for a read aloud story in circle time. A new rug to replace the worn foam mat currently being used would create an inviting area conducive to learning. The pencil sharpener would benefit every student and help keep students focused on tasks rather than trying to sharpen pencils with a worn sharpener.
