I am an itinerant P.E. teacher so I travel between two elementary schools on a daily rotating basis. Both of the schools that I visit are less than 10 years old, but that also makes what equipment we have 10 years old. There is approximately 100 students at each school. Most of them love being outdoors and like nothing better than to be hunting or fishing. Until this year most of them have never even seen a tennis racket. In this county the median household income for a family is $35,000, with 12% of families living below the poverty level.Therefore, most parents cannot afford any activities that are not 100% provided for by our schools. The county does provide two team sports each year, basketball and baseball. These children deserve to be introduced to as many opportunities as possible. With P.E. being their only way to learn to exercise properly, learn new sports, and learn how their bodies work, I feel that it is my responsibility to provide as many resources for them as I can.
