I have been a reader my entire life. As a child, I remember making lists of books I wanted to read and checking them off as I completed them. I gradually collected series and displayed them proudly in my room. It was almost an addiction. I truly hope that my excitement for new books will become contagious. My approach is "If the book fits, read it." I have a pretty good sized classroom library, but now that I am teaching additional grade levels, I really need to purchase some higher level novels. Not only do I need to expand levels, but there are specific genres buckets that are lacking variety to attract new readers. Expanding my classroom library will allow more opportunities to share the love of reading with my students. Proficient reading fluency and comprehension are becoming more difficult to attain, so having access to quality books will help support this gap.
