Our classroom is a Preschool Special Day Class serving children 3-5 years old with special needs. Our students are excited to come to school everyday. Many of our students are presented with difficulties in their receptive and expressive language. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area where students and their families do not speak English as their first language. Many of them do not have access to resources and rely on school being the only place where they can enjoy them. Our students enjoy participating in activities with each other, like play time or reading books. They strive to work hard through their adversities and are very happy when they have learned something new. Story time is often their favorite time of the day, since they are excited to see what new adventures their favorite characters will be experiencing. Whenever our students are upset or sad, a story makes it easier for them to understand their feelings and how to be happier.
