I teach 1st grade EL magnet class. All of my students are entering level English language learners. For the majority this is their first year in the United States and in school in general. This year my students come from Iraq, Sudan, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Nepal, Congo and Malaysia. Some were born and lived all their lives in refugee camps, some had education interrupted by wars and conflicts. Several of my students are going through a silent period when they are still not able to produce any English words.

About my class
