My students are multi-cultural, mostly of Pacific and Asian decent. We are a Title-One school and have nearly a 20% ELL campus. Our students have heart! We treat each other with respect and focus on our positives. In our book, my students are all 300% genius. We live in an urban setting on Oahu. Many students enjoying going to the mall and the beach. Most students have responsibilities after school including school-sponsored athletics and clubs; as well as, taking care of siblings or after school jobs to help out the family. Students are enthusiastic learners when relationships are developed between teacher and students. I have developed lessons to teach my students the importance of finding their creativity and talents, so that they can mold themselves into whom they are becoming. We talk about the importance of knowing what your name means, valuing yourself for all that you are and all that you are not, honoring ancestors, and protecting their future generations.
