Inner city students are striving to break the poverty cycle. I teach grades 9-12, English, and I want them to see a difference in this teacher from the moment that they enter my classroom. Teaching inner city kids is sometimes confusing; for many, they don't see college is an option. I am working to raise comprehension and writing levels so that students have better chances of receiving scholarships and grants to obtain a road to college and a road out of poverty. My high school is inner city, multi-cultural, and filled with students that need to "break the cycle" of poverty. These students are reaching for a chance and I want to help them obtain one.
