Students have different needs when learning. Many of my students prefer to stand. This means they are hunched over their desks. Others have feet that seem to be always "on the go." Although we use movement breaks in our classroom during transitions this just isn't enough for some children. A desk which allows these students to have the option to stand comfortably while working has proven beneficial to student learning. The natural movement of standing at a desk increases academic achievement because the child is able to remain focused on the task at hand. The swinging footrest also allows children to burn extra energy and improves posture.
