Our school is in an urban area highly influenced by the plant based sciences. I chose biotechnology resources for my science classroom so that students could have the opportunity to experience using these laboratory tools early on in their academic careers. They will then use the tools in high school and again in any biology, chemistry, or medical class they may pursue after that point. Even students, not pursuing an advanced degree, but who will be taking preliminary college studies will eventually use these same resources. Micropipettors are a foundational tool in the the scientific laboratory. Many students have never heard of, seen, or used this piece of essential equipment. I want to afford my students the opportunity, early on, to become familiar with the tool. Having micropipettors will allow us to look more closely at micro-measurements, as well as, use the pipettors for simple science experiments.
