My class is a diverse group ethnically as well as socially in a school of about 425 students. As our population consists of about 80% free or reduced lunch, we have established programs to prepare each and every student for a successful day which includes breakfast, snacks, and lunch. Also, we know that many students lack home technology, and most probably lack many enriched life experiences to broaden their ability to associate new learning to prior learning, so, we have been able to provide iPads for every student in grades 1-5. This important tool has enabled all students to increase access to information as well as provide for individualized instruction. In the age of the Common Core Standards, all students are required to meet grade level expectations and be able to take standardized tests on line. Overall, staff and students share goals of meeting achievement.
