I want to create a comfort corner in my classroom for students that are having a difficult time in class and need a break. I have seen this done in a local school and it is proven to be extremely effective for those students. They have seen improvements in their emotional health which then leads to improvements in their education. When a child is screaming, yelling and lashing out I do not want to send them out of my classroom for someone else to deal with. We are a family in my classroom and I want a safe space for my students to be able to go and regroup themselves. I also have done a lot of research on the wonderful effects of weighted blankets. I truly believe this will help with my autistic students, ADHD students and my emotional students. I am convinced that the blanket will give them that nice "hug" they need in that moment.
