Recently I was approached by several students who expressed great interest in starting a robotics competition team. I was intrigued by this concept as I saw how passionate they were and how valuable this would be in developing much needed skills for these students. Not only were they adamant about starting up a team, they are relentless with pursuing the status of the necessary funding. We have found funding for the registration and field kit this year. However, we still very much need support coming up with the EV3 robot needed to compete this year. We just found out that the robot we have and were preparing for competition is old and cannot be used in the competition. The sincere enthusiasm expressed by these students to get started with the LEGO robotics challenge has me trying to find the funding needed to make their dreams come true! Through the needed support, my students will learn through hands-on experience and dramatically improve their collaboration skills and foster true team interaction. This would give them the much needed chance to succeed! Through the LEGO robotics program, they will be able to succeed creating hands-on robotics and work on their English skills by their research project and interacting with their hearing peers. This opportunity would be a dream come true for my students!
