My class is a resource class for 6-8 grade students who have been identified as Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) and for other high achieving students who did not meet the criteria for identification. My class is designed to give them a space to explore enriched content and experiences beyond the standard curriculum in a cluster of their peers with similar abilities. The course is designed to be a hands-on enrichment experience preparing them for advanced high school coursework. Our school is located in an extremely poor, rural area of northeastern North Carolina. As a result, many of my students lack the access to resources and technology that their peers in other districts have. However, my kids are smart and resilient despite their challenges. It is my hope this space will help me find ways to give them opportunities that otherwise our district just can't afford. Thank you for your help!
