I want to provide my students with great literature to really further their love of reading or be able to reach students that are reluctant readers. The purpose of choosing these books as part of the Sunshine State Young Readers Award Program is to encourage students to read independently for pleasure. I want my students to have that thirst for a great story and adventure. These books I chose are award winning books chosen by my state because of their wide appeal to children, curriculum connections, and literary value. They also include varied genres and multicultural representation. Sunshine State books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.

About my class
