My students live in a small, rural part of Arkansas. Most of the student population is low-income, and many of the students depend on the meals at school. There is a sense of "home" at my school. You can tell how well the students interact with each other; most of the students have grown up together. My students come from unique situations, many from broken homes. The type of home life a child has affects how they behave at school. Our school works towards teaching these children structure, as well as giving them knowledge. Each week we practice social skills in hopes of preparing them how to be a civil, social, educated adult. The students in my classroom struggle with behavioral issues as well as support from home. Projects and activities that challenge them, and allow them to learn how to work with others will be very beneficial in helping them to work on behavior. Also, if they can learn to depend on a team, they will gain a sense of support while at school.
