Students with severe language and learning disabilities learn in a different way compared to their general education peers. My students like to be engaged in learning using resources that are not available to them. They love to use more than one sense in discovering the world around them. As members of a low-income community, my students have a challenge accessing different modes of discovery. Content needs to be both visual and interactive for them to be interested and engaged. Many have communication disorders that prohibit them from responding using traditional methods. It has been my mission as their teacher to make the world more accessible to them.
