These students worked for three months to prepare for the state "We the People" competition in Columbia, SC where they achieved 2nd place allowing them to earn the "Wild Card" eligibility to compete at the national level. Even though it will take them an additional four months of intense after school and weekend preparation to prepare for nationals, they are eager to have the opportunity to win. They are from all walks of life with various academic and socioeconomic challenges. This trip will be provide them with an experience that will impact them for a lifetime as they will be afforded the opportunity to also tour our national capital and experience our history come to life. With your help, these students will have their academic knowledge, debate skills, and historical experiences enhanced beyond the walls of the classroom. The "We the People" competition provides students the opportunity to prepare US Constitution questions and respond to an expert panel representative of a Congressional hearing. This experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will help shape their future.
