Children learn through their senses. Engaging activities that are novel, fun, kinesthetic, and language-rich encourage and sustain curiosity and interest. Sensory bins and slime provide unique ways for students to interact with and learn about numbers, letters, and shapes. Young children need a variety of ways to make connections to their world, academic skills, and new learning. Exploring through their senses helps create links between new information and what they already know. These sensory activities create pathways for children to be successful, confident learners. Experiences that require the brain, body, and voice to work together increase the likelihood of learning new skills, and preparing them for the future.
