Beginning the school year off on a positive note will allow me as a teacher to set the standards high for my students. Providing my English I learners with all their basic supplies is going to take some worry away and allow them to focus more on their learning needs and not the "supplies" they are required to have. Pencils, paper, folders, and art supplies will provide the students with the utensils they need to begin the school year. They will be able to write their ideas down on their own paper, they will be able to share out their ideas and not worry about what they need to add to their already growing "back to school lists." Providing these basic materials of pencils, paper, folders, and art supplies will allow my students from the start to be able to get their creative minds flowing and their ideas down on paper. The writing process can be instant as opposed to waiting for everyone to obtain the necessities. I have binders for them already to begin the organizational process. The cleaning wipes will help keep our family oriented classroom germ free and the pencil sharpener will keep their writing utensils pointed, just as their minds can be focused. The set of dry erase boards will allow small group assignments and stations to flow more smoothly and aid my students to jot down words or phrases we may come across. Having the materials requested through DonorsChoose.org will allow my students to feel prepared and ready to learn. Entering high school with a list of responsibilities is hard enough. Providing my students with their basic materials will enable them to be free of worry.
