My students for the most part live in Detroit, Michigan. Some have very difficult lives. They all fall into the Federal poverty guidelines, which means they are low income. They usually do not have as much opportunities at home, than at school. My school is very diverse, which I love. We struggle to keep up with our ESL (English as a Second Language) families, and communication is somewhat limited.
