I have been teaching at Kensington Health Sciences Academy since 2006 and coaching the school soccer team since 2012. There's no place in the world that I'd rather be. I started as a social studies teacher and didn't originally want to teach anything else. However, after teaching for a few years I realized that it was the interactions and relationships with students that really gave me joy and which subject I taught didn't matter much. So since there was a greater need for a Spanish teacher, I switched over and am loving teaching more than ever. Students in our neighborhood are often looked down on and dismissed by society at large, but that doesn't define them. Our students are genuine, wonderful human beings and they have immense potential. They just need the right the right supports to help them unlock that potential and that's what motivates me on a daily basis.
