Giving my students the ability to use their own copy of "Love That Dog" by Sharon Creech will help them to be able to be successful in our poetry unit. Many of the poems in the book are used for various activities and it is important for each student to have a copy so that they can work at their own pace when necessary. There are many English language learner students in my class and giving them many different ways to hear a text is important. They will learn by seeing the words in the book, reading the words (alone, with the whole class, with a partner), and by hearing parts of the book read on an audio CD. The donations for this unit will help all of my students and you will be part of the reason for each students success and continued learning. Keeping students engaged and wanting more is a top priority in my classroom. By not having to worry about having the right materials and using different learning strategies to reach all students helps me to be successful and be a better teacher everyday.
