The STEM Design Process is a four phase cycle that helps scientists and engineers find solutions to problems in a systematic way. The students will use familiar fairy tales and build multiple solutions to the problem in the story. The materials are high interest blocks and figurines. Story cards guide beginning thoughts of how to create a solution. Each phase in the process promotes creative thinking, learning, and innovation. The Fairy Tales will come alive as the students are the ones solving the problems this time. Using familiar Fairy Tale figurines the students will try to solve the classic problems of the Big Bad Wolf and others using the STEM design. The four phases are: Plan a solution bases on their own experience. Create a model of their design using specific materials. Test their design. Analyze their results and think of new solutions. Each kits has the potential for endless solutions that our class will design.
