I teach a group of energetic and curious first graders in an impoverished community. Because of their life's circumstances many of them carry tremendous baggage with them at a very young age. However, even though they are faced with some unfair challenges in life my students come to class everyday with an abundance of energy and a desire to learn. Many of them are already very behind in so far as the content that they should know. Some have behavior challenges while others suffer from ADHD and similar conditions. Because of this I know that it is imperative for me to keep these young minds busy learning in a fun and engaging way at all times.
