I love my job but finding the money to stock the classrooms (2) with engaging materials can be difficult. I use TeachersPayTeachers often, but our students need materials that are more sturdy and will last for many years. Using pre-made learning materials from Lakeshore Learning or other vendors helps them understand difficult concepts like phonics/decoding and multiplication tables. Many of my students need to use multi-sensory activities (smell, taste, touch, hear) in order to learn what other kids pick up fast. These resources help introduce young children to letters, sounds, and words so the world of literature opens up for them. RL.K, 1, 2- ELA and common core standards are addressed using manipulatives like letter stamps and file folder games. Print concepts are critical for early learning (learning to learn) skills and include NV standards: Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. a. Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page. b. Recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters. c. Understand that words are separated by spaces in print. d. Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
