My 4th grade students are eager learners who come from low-income families. They are excited to come to school and I am happy to see them every day. They tell me about what they did over the weekend, what's going on at home, and what they want to do when they grow up. I love to hear their stories and imagine the impact they might have on the world one day. Our school is home to a lot of students who come from low income families and are often latch-key kids. Some of the apartments that our students live in have a very high crime rate, so I am happy to see that our students have such a positive attitude. We have a great staff that is very supportive of the students and families. We have a lot of parent volunteers that love to help during the day and at our various fundraisers. We have even started an ESL program for any of the parents that want to learn or improve their English skills.
