We are a school that is made up of 98% Hispanics from low social economic backgrounds. Many of our students live in dangerous neighborhoods and are not exposed to the vast array of possibilities this world has to offer. Despite their financial status, these children come to school every day ready to learn. I, as their physical education teacher have been giving the opportunity to open their eyes to keeping their bodies healthy while having fun. The best job in the world (but I'm biased). Recently the kids have taken an interest in baseball and volleyball. The equipment will help them to understand the game and maybe decide they really like it. Who knows, maybe a couple of college scholarships can come out of this.
