I have loved being a speech/language pathologist for 27 years. This fall, we are heading back in to our school buildings and I cannot wait to see the faces and hear the voices of students. My desire is to keep them safe, and yet the nature of speech therapy requires that we can see each other's mouths and for students who are hearing impaired, read each other's lips. The masks that I have requested have a clear window in them so that speech therapy can continue safely. I'm requesting one for every student on my caseload, and my plan is to clean them after use and store them separately. Their mask will always be available for them during speech therapy.
