After introducing the library and its resources to students at the start of the year, many students provided feedback regarding the physical space. Students expressed that our library was in need of places to go for book recommendations and book displays and places to get cozy and read, and I couldn't agree more! Flexible seating in our library will continue building our community, allow for choice, and promote literacy (who doesn't want to cuddle up and read a book in a comfy beanbag?!). Likewise, in middle school, it's important that students are offered literature that is reflective of their own experiences and the experiences of others. Current and relevant titles will be strategically displayed in places that students can easily see and access. Also, having a place in the library where information is posted using a whiteboard allows for students to conveniently have one place to check for library activities, schedules, updates.
