Welcome to our Reading Cafe! Reading is exciting! That's what all my students say as they leave my class. In my urban school district the students arrive at school looking polished and ready to learn. However, once the layers are pulled back you uncover that their lives are unstable and they don't always have resources at home to help them close their learning gaps and deficits. All of my students are reading several grades below 6th grade. It is my job to help provide a stable, motivating, fun environment for them to learn. Watching my students grow as readers throughout their 6th grade year brings tears to my eyes. Some students go from reluctant readers to avid readers. It is very gratifying for me to watch their growth take off. Success is the only option.
