"My students are unique" Is a statement most teachers often say; however, my student are uniquely special as they are on the Autism Spectrum and are brilliant! My students are gifted and creative individuals who I would like to help them in anyway I can to cultivate those gifts. In my classroom, sensory items are a big part of what happens to help with anxiety and anger. My students are 6 amazing survivors of Hurricane Harvey, which hit us at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. They went through traumatic stress when their neighborhood flooded for days and drastically displaced them from their homes, and even their school.
