By providing students with these materials, students will have access to resources that will allow them to develop skills needed to succeed such as collaboration, critical thinking, finding enjoyment in learning and remaining curious about their surroundings. Students engage in collaboration activities on a daily basis by using sticky notes to write their ideas, thoughts or questions to share with a partner, group or the class. Students also continue to develop various studying strategies in which they use index cards as vocabulary flash cards, sticky notes for thinking of questions they have or areas where they need extra clarification on. We also do a number of lab experiments to investigate phenomenon they experience in their lives. One of the lab experiments completed at the beginning of the year involves density in which students investigate the relationship between mass, volume and types of materials. Students also play games to check for understanding and as another way to demonstrate understanding so we would use buzzers for groups participating in various competition games.
