My middle school ELL students have classroom jobs to earn a weekly virtual paycheck (after paying rent on the desks and pencil sharpener.) They receive bonus dollars for exhibiting positive behavior, getting after-school tutoring, and participating in school-sponsored extra-curricular activities. Adversely, they pay fines for negative behavior choices. Your donations will furnish the inventory for our classroom store, where students can spend their hard-earned virtual dollars on essential items such as school supplies, snacks, cold water, and personal hygiene necessities. With your support, students will have incentive to make positive behavior choices that can truly pay off. Your gift will have a lasting effect, too, because students will have the satisfaction of being able to provide things for themselves that they normally might just go without. I know that will make them feel great!
