While working to increase reading levels, I often notice that students struggle with the comprehension portion of reading assessments. Incorporating book clubs into student homework will give them the opportunity to engage in text with their parents at home as well as with their classmates at school. These books will be used to develop reading, writing and critical thinking skills while interacting with a text that is comfortable and familiar. Due to the current health concerns students will be allowed to keep their book club books at home. Group members will then meet in the classroom to discuss findings and make predictions.
