In our eighth grade classroom in the Kansas City area, we are striving to become global learners and think on deeper levels by using a variety of applications and devices to connect beyond the four walls of our classroom and create deeper meaning for our students. Our students are diverse in many ways, and technology helps us to meet the needs of our diverse learners. Through apps and extensions, students can annotate texts, use voice to text to create essays or projects, or receive instant teacher feedback. Teachers can even record lessons for students to take with them on the go. But without a reliable connection to power sources, none of this is possible.
