My students need an environment that has various seating options so they can effectively collaborate and engage in critical thinking. My students need to walk into a classroom that is safe, fun, inviting and feels like home. I plan to use the materials requested to create that vision. My students will have the option to choose what kind of learning space works for them. As educators, we know students learn differently and have different bodily-spatial and kinesthetic needs. Flexible seating options will allow my students to collaborate and communicate among peers in an environment that is comfortable,stress free, and non-judgmental. They will have the opportunity to make choices and be actively in charge of their own learning, which I believe will lead to higher academic success. I am asking for five table and chair sets, twenty-four storage crates, a junior futon, a carpet, ten stack stools, six bean bag chairs, two floor lamps, four balance balls, and thirty clipboards to complete the transformation of my classroom.
