My students are loud and energetic. They're imaginative and creative. They're authentic and lively. They crave love, attention, and support every second of the day. My students are full of life, yet don't have the understanding of where their life could go. I have over 30 students all of which arrived in my classroom below a 1st grade reading level. They have no love of reading and cringe at the thought of reading independently. Books are not something my students have ever put first in their life, mostly because they've never had true exposure to them growing up in a low income area. It's my desire to work each day changing that because behind every stack of books is a flood of knowledge; knowledge my students are yearning for.
