My students have been deprived a real science experience all of their lives. They have asked me "are we really going to use any of these equipment?" They started high school with the idea that science is all worksheets and little home labs. They have not been exposed to any real science equipment and that breaks my heart. My school is a performing arts magnet school in struggling area, and many of the students have not thought of college. I know that more of them will like science if they were actually exposed to real life science equipment.
