I am going to be using these activities for individualized centers, small group instruction, and tools to supplement whole group teaching. These will help create a sense of responsibility for students to take ownership. Taking care of these materials will be done by establishing classroom rules and procedures. Since students learn in a variety of ways (kinesthetic, auditory, and visual) these materials will support all of these learning types. Manipulatives are vital for math instruction at the primary level to reinforce concrete learning which is developmentally appropriate at this age. Students will use the various manipulatives to count or subtract and have the actually visual representation. Most of the activities will be used after students come to teacher table for their instruction for some independent practice to continue to reinforce the skill taught for the day.
