I currently teach 8th grade Humanities in a small, urban charter school. The majority of my students speak English as a second language and qualify for free lunches. There are many challenges in our community such as gang violence, a dismal high school graduation rate and the challenges that come with immigration issues. Many students qualify for special education services and we pride ourselves on teaching the "whole child" to meet everyone's unique needs.
