Music is a very powerful force in the lives of young people. My school is very at-risk with 100% of the students receiving free breakfast and lunch. Although my students come from high poverty, I believe that ALL of my students can make a positive impact on our society through the power of music and are better human beings by learning about music. Music has so much to offer them in many, many ways. My students are the "Best of the Best" at our school and have shared their talents within the community by playing Holiday Music at the nearby senior center and convalescent home. The students take pride in what they have achieved and are better prepared for the challenges that await them in the future by learning how to share their musical talents for others to enjoy.
