At my school, we are 50%+ economically disadvantaged. The majority of students in my class do not have books at home and are not exposed to the wide world of literature at home. They come to me not reading where they should be. I use the majority of my teaching day working on getting them caught up. They need books to take home and share with their parents. Books to help them build their fluency, comprehension and accuracy skills.
