In Special Education, our days revolve around much more than books. We have to consider the bigger picture, giving thought to the vast array of needs specific to each student. A big part of preschool is learning how to follow school rules, and sometimes that's hard when our busy little bodies need a break. By taking five minutes to relax in the Pea Pod or gaze into the fiberoptic lights, we are giving students with exceptional needs an opportunity to reset and refocus, thus setting him/her up for more success throughout their school day. It's crucial that the classroom is set up to address academics while also not forgetting the sensory needs of each student in order to promote a happy and healthy learning environment.

About my class
