I am a 3rd Grade Teacher at a Title I school district where a 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. In my class, reading has proved to be a struggle for some of my students. They typically don't have access to books outside of my classroom and school. Most of the books they are exposed to come from my personal classroom library. Even though some of my students are struggling with reading, they have taken an interest in it and are requesting more books! All of my students are trying to meet their goals on Accelerated Reader, which has motivated them to consistently read every day. While it is wonderful they are reading more, I unfortunately, can not keep up with their book requests. Since every classroom item comes out of my own pocket, I am responsible for purchasing the books they read. If you decide to donate to my classroom, you will be helping each student develop a love of reading. Not only will they love reading but it will also help the struggling readers to catch up academically. I have requested an assortment of grade level books and below grade level books to accommodate all the readers in my class. These books are appropriate for their reading levels, and they are direct requests from my students!
