I try to keep my room bright and comfortable, a place students enjoy being. Self-reliant and independent, they are responsible for getting themselves to school while also managing jobs and helping their families with childcare and bills. At present, many of my students are taking college classes while also trying to graduate on time from high school. These college opportunities are incredibly valuable because they are offered for free, but our kids must carefully strategize how they can balance their time if they want to be successful at the myriad tasks they are simultaneously undertaking. My students want to improve their writing, their skills, their potential for great impact as community leaders. I am so proud of who they are and who they want to be.
