I teach AP English Literature at an all-girls' public high school in Brooklyn where 83% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My school has a 100% graduation rate and a 100% college acceptance rate for our graduating seniors. Almost all of my students are the first in their families to go to college, but those who have taken my class in previous years say that they are very well prepared for their college reading and writing.
