With these books, my students will embrace their own diversity as well as learn about the diversity of cultures around them. As our school goes global, they will have a better understanding of the world around them. Taking ownership over their reading with their own Storex book bin will ensure responsibility and inspire them to explore other cultures through stories. They will get to pick the books they keep in their bins, so that they become owners of their reading! Reading books like "Marti's Song for Freedom" and "My Very Own Room" in English and in Spanish will allow many of my students an opportunity to read books in their native language. The stories of the past and the present will allow them to make connections and learn about historic events.
