With the recent school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, my students with autism have been greatly affected by abrupt changes to their normal routine. With the possibility of entering a hybrid learning setting, I would like my students to have sensory items available in the classroom to use when they are done with their academic work as an incentive. Not only will these sensory materials serve as a reward, but will help manage their emotions during this adjustment to hybrid learning. The sensory balls, dough, and calming bottles will help students to manage their stress and release their anxiety in this new adaptation to return to campus after months of distance learning.
