The Ipad is a fantastic tool for my student. He uses it several times a day to take much needed work breaks. These breaks are written into his IEP. Unfortunately, because of his disability he is easily stressed and anxious. He upsets easily because he cannot think abstractly in order to write a simple paragraph. The Ipad serves as a tool to motivate him as well as alleviate the stress of the classwork. My student is able to work for longer periods of time and remains in a positive mood because of his Ipad breaks. It is imperative to implement the work/break method with my student because he needs it to decompress. He is unable to self sooth. He needs the visual distraction of applications and his favorite shows. The Ipad prevents major meltdowns due to the stress brought upon by daily school activities.
