Most of our students come from a low socioeconomic background. The small town atmosphere is still one of hope as the students prepare themselves for life outside of high school. My students are hard workers who are successful despite the limitations that surround them such as poor equipment and a lack of funding. My students take pride in doing more with less, and being successful in spite of what may hold them back. Our school is very supportive of the arts, and always shares with the community the achievements of each of the programs. Our students are successful even though our free and reduced lunch numbers are well over 50 percent. Despite this, our students excel in the field of competition, competing against larger and more well funded programs. Each year, our students win several major competitions and are ranked in the top ensembles in the state of Tennessee. The program's proudest moment...winning the USSBA Tennessee State Championship in 2011.
